10 Inspiration Busters and What To Do About Them.
There are many things that can take you off purpose and away from your focus; only to find that a whole day’s gone by and you don’t know where it went, what you did, or why you didn’t achieve the things you had intended. Here are 10 inspiration busters and some ideas of how to deal with them. There are of course many more, and clearing these out will create lots of space for inspiration.
1. Too Busy- If you are like most of us you have been living in do do land for a long time! You see we get our sense of self and our value from doing and doing is rewarded in our culture. Much of doing is unnecessary and the Paredo principle states that 80% of the effect is caused by 20% of the action. So if this is true . . . why not stop doing the 80% that is not creating results? Use my signature process; Body as a Compass (tm) to identify the things you can let go of.

2. Too overwhelmed- Living in do do land creates overwhelm. This is something that is modeled in our culture. You might even think it’s cool to be overwhelmed. After all overwhelm is part of who we all are at one time or another in our lives. Ask yourself is this the story I am telling? Am I identified with being overwhelmed? The new story is there’s enough time for everything I value and overwhelm is a distant memory.
3. Too Confused- Confusion is a state of being we use to keep us safe. If you’re confused you can delay decision making and weigh the pros and cons. You have a reason to stay in indecision. It’s difficult to recognize inspiration when you’re confused. Learn to choose consciously- no choice is a choice! Perhaps my e-course on How to Choose Consciously would be the perfect prescription for you if you are living in confusion.

4. Too tired- Running on the hamster wheel can be exhausting and holding on to all the things you think you need to do zaps your life force and decreases your band width. Begin noticing your energy. Are you fueling yourself with adrenalin or with passion? Hint is what you are embracing and taking action on a push or a pull? If you are pushing it’s likely to be adrenal and that’s exhausting. Look for the things that pull you forward instead and let go where you’re needing to push.
5. Too many choices- Much of our programming and conditioning is geared to keep us doing and running on that treadmill. The story goes there’s one more thing I need to do before I can . . . . What if you are whole, complete, and perfect and nothing more is needed? Internet marketers often use psychology to get you to buy one more program, system, training that will . . . fill in the blanks! Before buying use your body as a compass and notice if this is something you really need or just another way to stay in sameness.
6. Too many incompletions- Incompletions take lots of life force or energy. They can be in a number of different areas of your life; projects you have started and not finished, relationships without closure, tolerations or the things you are putting up with around you, tax returns that are overdue, clutter. Make a decision today to start completing the incompletions. Just pick one and handle it. Then choose another. When these are no longer taking your life force your inspiration will increase dramatically!
7. Too little structure- Often those of us who have gone from having jobs to being self employed have difficulty in the unstructured environment of self employment. By scheduling specific activities daily you capture time that may have been wasted if not scheduled. Be focused with this. I am not suggesting you fill in every hour of every day with something to do but I am suggesting that you allow time for the things that allow you to be the best you can be.
8. Too little self care- Most of us spend so much time focused outward that we forget about us and forget to focus inward. Self care must be scheduled and your commitments to you must be honored. Often inspiration comes to me when I am in the midst of self care.
9. Too many competing forces- Focus splitters are things that creep into your mind that you need to handle and take you off course. Create a do it, do it later maybe, delegate it, dump it list and park those distractions in one of those categories so it’s not taking your attention.
10. Too little clarity about what you really want- What do you really want and why? Who is it for? Are you chasing a dream that’s yours? Are you consistantly taking action that moves you towards what you desire? Begin making a list of 100 things you wish to do, have, be, or experience before leaving the planet. When you get to 100 add 20 more and keep going. Having trouble thinking about this or feeling like you deserve something for yourself?
